Aston Villa hope to have influential duo Gareth Barry (groin) and Ashley Young (hamstring) back for the derby.

Defenders Martin Laursen and Carlos Cuellar are making progress from their injuries but are unlikely to feature.

West Brom boss Tony Mowbray will check on James Morrison (groin), Gianni Zuiverloon (knee) and Felipe Teixeira (calf) before the trip to Villa Park.

All three returned to training on Thursday, but Abdoulaye Meite is still out with a hamstring problem.

Aston Villa manager Martin O'Neill told BBC Radio WM:
"The two victories they have had will have restored a lot of confidence within the team.

"They are playing strongly for each other, which is a very important ingredient too.

"And I am sure they will feel they have as good a chance as anyone of staying up. The league is so tight that you can move up a lot of places over one weekend with a win." West Brom manager Tony Mowbray told BBC Radio WM:
"We're at a stage, looking at the second half of the season, where we have had a lot of hard luck stories.

"We don't want too many more hard luck stories.

"We've got to go there and make life difficult for them and try to get a result.

"We don't want to be sitting after the game wondering how we lost another match."
